WESTLAKE VILLAGE - Communities and Property Types
Westlake Village is a planned community that sits astride the Ventura and Los Angeles county line, nine miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Originally known as just “Westlake,” the incorporated city is home to more than 8,000 individuals located in the areas primarily south of Route 101 and east of La Venta Drive, on the western edge of Los Angeles County. On the Ventura County side, Westlake Village is actually within the city limits of Thousand Oaks, though the property here is generally recognized as part of the Westlake Village community. In fact, the real estate here is recorded in the Ventura County Recorder’s office as “Westlake Village,” despite their technical location within the city of Thousand Oaks; an important fact to keep in mind when searching for Westlake Village homes on the MLS. The United State Post Office allocates the 91362 ZIP code to both cities, including new homes. Residents of the Conejo Valley region generally consider Westlake Village to encompass the entire area surrounding Westlake Lake on both sides of the county line.
Westlake Village is regarded as an affluent community, and homes for sale within the city are some of the most exclusive listings in Ventura County. It is one of the wealthiest communities in the Greater Los Angeles Area, with a laundry list of current and former notable residents, including Will Smith, Vin Scully, Mickey Rooney, Heather Locklear and Dana Delany. Westlake Village is also home to several premium golf courses and exclusive country clubs, boasting The Westlake Golf Course off Route 101, the Sherwood Country Club in the west and North Ranch Country Club to the north. Properties here range from new, custom-built homes to grand historical gems. Residents here are also well-served by several upscale dining locations. Mediterraneo is a Zagat-rated restaurant that offers a bistro-style dining experience on the grounds of The Westlake Village Inn. The Four Seasons Hotel located in Westlake Village also offers Zagat-rated modern Japanese cuisine at ONYX, classic Italian at Mercato Italiano or a Sunday Jazz and Champagne brunch. Westlake
Village’s residents enjoy a total of 16 acres of park land. With amenities like lighted basketball courts, soccer and softball fields, fitness trails, walking paths, picnic pavilions and playgrounds, a good time is never far from the front door.
